Open Source License

BrowserOS is licensed under the AGPL-3.0 (GNU Affero General Public License v3.0). This means:

  • Free to Use: You can use BrowserOS for any purpose, personal or commercial
  • Free to Modify: You can modify the source code to suit your needs
  • Free to Distribute: You can share BrowserOS with others
  • Copyleft: If you distribute modified versions, you must share the source code

Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using BrowserOS, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use BrowserOS.

What BrowserOS Provides

BrowserOS is provided as an open-source web browser with AI capabilities. We provide:

BrowserOS integrates with various third-party services:

  • AI Providers: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc. (your API keys, their terms)
  • Extensions: Chrome Web Store extensions (Google's terms apply)
  • Websites: All websites you visit (their terms apply)
  • Local Models: Ollama and other local AI models (their licenses apply)

Disclaimers

BrowserOS is provided "as is" without warranties:

  • No Warranty: We don't guarantee BrowserOS will be error-free
  • Use at Your Own Risk: You're responsible for your use of the software
  • AI Accuracy: AI responses may be inaccurate or inappropriate
  • Data Loss: Back up important data; we're not liable for data loss

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • No Damages: We're not liable for any damages from using BrowserOS
  • Open Source Nature: You can inspect and modify the code yourself
  • Community Support: Support is provided by the community, not guaranteed

Modifications and Updates

We may update these terms occasionally:

  • Notice: We'll announce changes in our Discord and GitHub
  • Continued Use: Using BrowserOS after changes means you accept the new terms
  • Open Source: You can always fork the project if you disagree

Termination

These terms remain in effect until:

  • You Stop Using: You can stop using BrowserOS anytime
  • License Violation: If you violate the AGPL-3.0 license
  • Open Source Forever: The code remains available under AGPL-3.0
